FBFF: Favorite Books

It's been a while since I last participated in the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday. This week is all about books. Honoring the novel writing month November, Katy of ModlyChic asked her fellow bloggers to talk about our Top 5 favorite books. For me as a book lover this is a tough one.

I have read hundreds of books for university and still managed to continue with my personal reading throughout my study time. My big dream is to own my own little library one day. Books are more timeless and I rather spend my money on good books that I enjoy reading over and over and will look great in my bookshelf than buying tons of DVDs for example.

If you have to cry, go outside by Kelly Cutrone

I have mentioned this book several times on the blog and can only repeat it. This is a great book for young women that want to survive not just in the fashion industry, but in any industry. It gives great advice concerning dress code, behavior and how to never back down while trying to survive in the business world.

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling {source}

I know, I know, it is supposed to be for kids and all, but I love the story, am a huge fantasy fan and I started to read English books this way. I was hooked and have been reading only in English in my free time ever since. I even got Mr.B. to read Harry Potter in English. Now he won't watch the movies with me prior to finishing the books, but hey you can't have it all :)

One last wish by Lurlene Mcdaniel{source}

Another book series. I read this as a teenager and just re-purchased it some months ago. It's a story about a girl that is diagnosed with cancer and won't recover from it. She is contacted by an anonymous donator that gives her 100.000 Dollar to fulfill her last wish and enjoy the final months of her life. It is a heartbreaking story split into three books that shows how several people are affected by this tragedy. I cried a lot while reading it. It also made me realize how fortunate I am to be healthy, alive and have all my loved ones surrounding me.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen {source}

This is the book that has had a great influence on my studies. I had to read several Austen books for my exams and especially fell in love with Elisabeths's character. Since then, I have read several other books from this period of time written for example by Thackeray, the Brontë sisters and Gaskell.

Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice {source}

I have been in love with Anne Rice' stories ever since I first watched Brad Pitt in "Interview with the Vampire". I was smitten by all those other books in the chronicles and read each of them several times. I have read a couple of other Vampire books since then, but non has been quite as important for me. I just love the stories about Vampire Lestat, Armand, Louis and others.

Which one is your favorite book?

I love how Harry Potter has such international appeal. My friend is fluent in Spanish and she practiced by reading Harry Potter in Spanish. I've even seen the books in Latin! Harry Potter books seem like entry-level textbooks for almost any language, and what a fun way to learn.

Oh, I love Harry Potter!! The books and the movies. I started reading the series in the 6th grade and kind of grew up with the characters. I was really sad when the last movie came out.

I felt the same after watching the last movie, but I guess one can always rewatch it and reread the books and then find new little things!
