On Saturday, I went to Leipzig together with my mom and sister to visit the Panometer. It is an amazing exhibition about the Amazonas. It shows a 30m high 360⁰ panorama artwork depicting different scenarios of the Amazonas and its’ flora and fauna. The artist Yadegar Asisi from Berlin took pictures of the region for over two years and later merged details from more than 30.000 pictures into one huge panorama picture. The showcase is illuminated by light and on a platform the audience can spent time there experiencing artificial day and night in this amazing exhibit. With rented binoculars one can even see the small details.
It was a lot of fun and I could have searched for little animals and different flowers for ages. My mom and I, we both forgot our glasses though and had some discussions on smaller animals. Sometimes, we couldn’t distinguish a monkey from a parrot and guessed around a lot :)
The photos are once again courtesy of my sister. These old round brick buildings are great and I would have loved extra photo sessions just for the surroundings, but taking photos was prohibited both in the exhibition and on sight.
We left the exhibition and did some shopping in the city centre and had some yummy ice cream at the Italian Gelateria.
