Dare to inspire

One year ago, Katy of ModlyChic started the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday and to celebrate this we all answer the same set of questions that were asked this time last year as they are still pertinent today

1. Which celebrity (celebrities) do you look to for fashion
inspiration?

Keira Knightley - She is such a great actress and has this very unique fashion sense. Classic, with a little girly chic. I don#t like that she is so skinny, some more kilos wouldn't do her bad, but she is pretty no matter what. This green dress that she wore in "Atonement" was one of my all time favorites!

Kate Winslet - If one my life should ever be made into a movie, she should play my character. She is perfect in every sense. Great actress, beautiful and she never gave sh.. about other people's opinions. She wore what she liked, she ate as much as she liked and she didn't want photoshop! Big role model and her fashion styling on the red carpet, especially for the Academy Awards, is amazing.

Katy Perry - my absolute idol! Love her music and adooooore her fashion sense. She wears a lot of 50s and pinup inspired clothes and I love those.

2. When it comes to your own personal style, what inspires you?

Vintage fashion from the 50s/60s - If I could ever relive an era, it would be the 50s. This clean chic and preppy styling is so beautiful. Full skirts, petticoats, defined waists and hair quiffs are a must have! Mad Men brings back some of that flair, even though I was in love with it way before the series started.

3. How do you hope to inspire your readers?

I try to stay original with all my posts. It would do me no good to try to be somebody totally different, perfect and cool. I am who I am and I think exactly that is what people want to read. Of course, I also try to write about things that are important to me and that I hope could also interest my readers. I want to show that every woman - tall, plus size, small, size zero (it doesn't matter) can look good with just a very small effort. I try to encourage other tall women to appreciate their height and curves with my posts. Apart from that a little uniqueness never hurts. With my "Shoe of the Week" project, I wanted to write about fashion from a "new" perspective. Looking at outfits from the shoe point of view is not done very often and I hope to give my blog a new perspective through that.

4. Outside the realm of fashion who/what inspires you?

I am deeply inspired by strong business women like Kelly Cutrone. I recently did a review on her book. She really knows what she wants and is not affraid to fight for it. As a single mother she is still independent and manages a huge PR company. I would like to open my own business one day as well and take all the advice that I can get.

5. And since Idol is ending… Which songs inspire you?

I really enjoy songs with a deeper message – "When September ends" by Green Day is one of my favorites. War is never a pretty topic, but with this song they managed to really make a point.

What inspires you?
