Wide-Legged Denim

1-IMG_3076

For my height and size finding a good pair of trousers, denim or any other fabric, is a buzz killer. I love wairing pants, but it is just so hard to find a good pair. Therefore, I often prefer dresses and skirts as it is much easier to find a fitting one that is also long enough for my taste. In summer, I can get away with wearing pants from normal retailers, I just look for the short sizes and then wear them as 7/8 lenth or 3/4 length pants. Sometimes a girl needs a nice long and fitting pair though and that's when I have to reach out to retailers for tall girls. My prefered shop is LongTallSally, though their customer service and quality can be a hit and miss. I still keep buying clothes there, because I just got no choice sometimes and LongTallSally surprises me with good products now and then as well.  These wide leg denim trousers were such a surprise. Not only do they fit nicely and have the perfect length that I don't have to adjust by a visit to my seamsstress, but they have these awesome button details on each front pocket, which give these pants an instant 50s sailor vibe and I am really impressed by the quality of the denim as well. Perfect for more 50s inspired outfits and I can't wait to style these with a striped shirt and marine accessories.

Weather confusion

1-IMG_1803

It's that time of year again when it is not yet Spring, but also not really Winter anymore. We still got freezing cold nights, with minus degrees and a little bit of snow sometimes, but we also have warm Spring days with up to 15°C. It's really weird and dressing is a nodge more difficult that usual. As I am commuting to work every day and have about 600m altitude difference between my home and my work, I struggle a lot with this transitional weather. Therefore layering is key. I actually store a couple of things at work to make my life a little easier. I have a nice cardigan or blazer and a pretty scarf at work and also have a light pair of office shoes stored in my desk. I commute via train and just can't carry 3 layers of clothes to keep me warm and have a nice work outfit ready to wear all the time. I am lucky when it comes to dressing rules at work. As long as it is not too reveiling, I can wear it. Still, I like to dress up for work, make an efford so to say. That actually does reflect on my students. When I did go to work in Jeans and T-Shirt every day a couple of years back, my students used to dress more casual and sometimes even too casual as well. Now, I often wear skirts and dresses to work and this reflects greatly on my students. They make the efford as well, but during snow season, it is difficult to always wear a skirt. When I do wear a pair of denim trousers, I pair them with a nice blouse or shirt and a blazer or cardigan.

A little bit of Summer during Fall

1-IMG_8185

Before we totally get into the Fall mode, I wanted to share my last Summer look on the blog. I wore this outfit on an unusual warm day in the end of September. I got this pair of white polkadot pants in the summer sale at LongTallSally and have wanted to wear it for weeks. I combines it with a couple of favourites as well as new pieces, such as this floral top and the turquoise shoes. The look felt really a bit too summery for this time of year, but I felt great during my meeting with my good friend A. Definitely a great bargain as I had my eye on these pants since they first showed up at LTS in Spring and I now saved 60%. The shoes have been waiting for there first outing even longer. Got them last winter during the sale as well, but they turned out to be very difficult to pair. Finally found a way, but am not sure how much wear I will get out of them in the future.

Jumpsuit love

1-IMG_4158

I never thought that this style would work for me, but I recently found a really nice jumpsuit during my time in Spain. And what a find! I bought it in a shop for large sizes, but regular height and hey, the extra fabric for plus size customers works wonders for me as a tall girl! Gotta try this trick more often. I must say that it is a loud print, but it feels cool and not too much. I wore it for a recent family dinner and even on a casual Friday at work. For this special look, I added a cropped cardigan, some nude/yellow sandals and my wonderful white Bedford Bag that has been on constant rotation these past weeks.

A new accessory and little gift to myself that will forever remind me of my wonderful anniversary trip to Paris. We did try the Ladurée macarons as well, but these on the key chain will last much longer and have been a dream accessory for some time now. I picked the dark pink fruit rouges version in S that will go well with all my beautiful bags as I am planning on rotating the key chain between all of them.

Another Paris purchase - my first full size Chanel lipstick, which I bought at the Chanel flagship store. We visited the store, saw all the amazing clothes and bags and got to take some pictures at the famous stairs that go up to Coco Chanel's old apartment upstairs. I got the Rouge Allure Lipstick in Pirate, a lovely pinkish red with a blue undertone.
