On consistency and change

I have been reading several posts about blogging techniques and I felt very connected to this article about consistency in blogging. These past months, it has been a bit difficult for me to keep posting on A Heart and Soul Story on a very regular basis. My work schedule has kept me quite busy and I sometimes felt and still feel overwhelmed by all the tasks that need to be done. I try to focus on blogging as it is something I really enjoy doing, but it seems to get cut more and more often.

I wanted to share this post by Elembee as I really found myself in this article. I do want to keep blogging, but I want to stop putting pressure on myself. I will try at least.
One major point that I want to focus on is to plan more and schedule posts in advance. It's funny that all my life is pretty planned out, but the blog doesn't get a ToDo list or a calendar. This has to change :)

With this in mind, I have done a some planning. What you can expect in the upcoming weeks and months:
- one to two outfit posts a week
- a DIY post on home projects here and there
- maybe some food posts on favorite recipes
- the shoe of the week project is going to make its' return in a new way

I also want to work on new ideas and, even though photos are my main priority on the blog, I would like to talk about some more serious topics once in a while. I hope you stay with me through this process. We all grow up, change our priorities and re-access our schedules and so will this blog now that it is coming of age!

PS: The logo and my (not so new anymore) blogheader were made by the before mentioned Elembee and I just adore her design. Totally my kind of style and the colors are wonderful. What do you think?

Keep up to date

I just wanted to let you all know–who haven’t heard–that Google Reader will be shutting down by July. This doesn't mean that Google Friend Connect shuts down, but those of you that follow this blog via Google Reader might not me able to read all your favourite blogs anymore the way you like it. I have been using Bloglovin since starting to read blogs 4 years ago, but it is not for everyone. I just wanted to remind you that you need to find one new way to keep up with your daily reads.

I can recommend Bloglovin and they offer a fast and easy way to transfer your Google Reader blogs to your account there. You can follow A Heart and Soul Story there as well.

Follow A Heart and Soul Story

Some other ways I heard about, but haven't tried myself:
- Feedly - most known
- Pulse - very good for Adroid users
- Twitter - apparently you can follow blogs there as well!
- a.o.

FBFF - planning makes your style perfect

For this weeks Fashion Beauty Friend Friday Katy of ModlyChic has asked her fellow bloggers to share a bit about their outfit planning habits. For some fashion opponents it might be overrated, but for me it's a very important topic.

1. How do you go about picking your outfit for the day? (Do you lay stuff out the night before? Do you plan a whole week's worth of looks Sunday night? Do you wing it every morning?)

I definitely plan my outfits just like I plan most of my life - in a semi-structured way :) I do have some ideas in my head of what I  need to do during the day and I do try to work my outfit around those things.

Can women recycle their clothes?

Since I started reading blogs on a regular basis about two years ago, a very bad habbit has been omnipresent to me that I have only known from hollywood superstars before: wearing your clothes only once and then never again. Katy of ModlyChic seems to have recognized this same situation happening on several "A-List Blogs" now as well and made this the topic of this weeks' Fashion Beauty Friend Friday theme. I find it a very interesting and important topic and really wanted to contribute to the discussion.

FBFF - my Blog Tech

Katy of ModlyChic is hosting another Fashion Beauty Friend Friday(FBFF) and this week it is all about the blog technology. She says that so much of what we bloggers do is all about the tools that we use. Technology certainly makes what we do easier, even if it is sometimes a major pain.

1. What are the tools you use to blog?

Those have to be devided into several categories

Blogging in general

I am a Blogger girl. Have been using this provider from the beginning, as I am no geek when it comes to webpages and it helped me create a blog easily and without having to know HTML programming. I have been quite happy using Blogger for the last year+ and I think, I will stay here for a while longer. Wordpress is appealing, but I have difficulties with adapting my old habits and as long as the provider serves my needs, I will stick with it. I am a loyal sheep :)

Sense of Belonging

My life has changed considerably since I started blogging in the beginning of the year. Even before, I had been reading blogs, mainly about fashion but also lifestyle, living and food, and by reading those had been looking for ideas to use when eventually starting my own blog. Katy of ModlyChic has once again challenged me with this weeks' questions for the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday. This time it's all about labeling and how important a connection and clear definition for a blog is.

1. As a someone who writes/blogs about fashion, have you placed
yourself into some sort of blogging category?

I would put myself into the lifestyle and fashion blogging category. I think one should focus on a certain area to also appeal to a certain readership. Having a blog without a theme could just be too messed up. Of course people are interested in several things, that goes for bloggers and readers, but the interest might fade. Less is sometimes better. I have had some issues focusing only on fashion, I like to write about my life in general, but I try to keep the focus somehow fashion related in every post.
