Beauty Saturday - vacation hair styles

I am currently on my way to Finland with Mr.B. Our first vacation together and we are planning to spend a lot of time outdoors. During summer, I sometimes hate having such long hair and I am always on the lookout for great summer hair styles. Today, I want to share some inspiration that really makes me love my long hair. Can't wait to try them all out.

Braided Hair

The girls of A Beautiful Mess have such pretty long hair and several great tutorials for braided locks. My favorites are the Maiden Braids and the Braided Crown.

Beauty Saturday - Daily Beauty Routine

For this weeks' Fashion Beauty Friend Friday we are talking Beauty - Katy over at Modlychic has asked her fellow bloggers about our beauty routine. What we use daily and what we can’t live without.

For my Beauty Saturdays, I have already talked about my hair and facial routine and my favorite make up (blushes, lipsticks, nail polish). But today, I want to share all the products that I really use on a daily basis.

New Hair

One thing on my ToDo List has been a change of my hairdo. Not too drastic, but I was kind of over the blunt black hair without any shimmer. Black hair is tricky to maintain and it often shows almost no reflection of light. I really love the "snow white" look of my long hair, but it also look a bit unnatural, stern and made me look much older. Not to mention the harsh hair line when the color slowly grows out.

Beauty Saturday - Hair Care

I guess, every girl cares about how her hair looks. I am no exception, but maybe I am a bit more worried about it than others. I probably would not leave the house with a butchered haircut, but I am going to the supermarket without make up. You can see my priorities there!
It might come from my family background and that I am a decendant of a long line of hair stylists. My mom is one, my great grandpa  and great aunt as well as their children and grandchildren work or have worked in the business. We care about hair :)
I never had a haircut from somebody other than my mother and it will probably be a hard day when I have to go to some other stylist should I move away after graduation.

I have weird hair (quote from my mother). You can't comb or cut it when it is wet. It's a huge ball of tangles that is miraculously gone the moment it is dry. Very weird. Because it gets messy so much and because I have been coloring it since my 14th birthday, I need to take extra care of it.

Hair emotions

Once again it's Friday and time for another round of questions by the lovely Katy of ModlyChic for the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday. This week, it's all about Hair and how we take care of it. As my mom is a hair stylist, this is one of my favorite topics so far :)

1.      How often do you get your hair cut?

This actually varies a lot. My hair is quite straight and has no layers, therefore i get a new cut when my ends really look brittle. I am currently thinking about a hair cut. Maybe I will get rid of some cm, cut it close to shoulder length, but I am not convinced yet. I love my long hair and am too afraid to cut it.

Hairy fuss – fussy Hair?

Over the last weeks I have been thinking that my hair style is pretty, but oh so boring. I take much more care with my outfits and make up than I do with my hairdo. I wear them open or in a side ponytail (and that only when I have a bad hair day). That’s it for variety when it comes to hair for me. I even have been thinking about a haircut, but I love my long hair too much and can’t part with it.

I seriously admire all the people out there that look amazing every day head to toe. I take time picking my outfits and getting ready, but then often the time is up and I am too scared to mess up the hair trying a new do last minute. Also, I lack innovation. I am creative, but I need some inspiration for it.

So for a while already, I have tried out several tutorials by fellow bloggers in the evenings. Most of them seemed easier than done, but I managed to find a couple of styles that I can go with in the future.

my mom did this do

The first is a braided do, an adorable look on Elsie’s blog A Beautiful Mess, but just not the thing you can pull off alone. I needed my best friend J. for support and it took like forever. Another small but important detail: I lack thick hair. Mine is rather thin, so the braids looked a bit lost on my head. This is a seriously pretty do, but just not for me. I might use the half-do that Elsie did on her own hair though. It looks much easier!

The second look is inspired by my new found blog love Wish Wish Wish. Carrie did a great tutorial on her messy Beehive and I just love the look. She did a video and pictures and it was actually quite easy to do. Of course, I got much longer hair, but with 2 more layers, I also managed to pull it off. I still need some practice at the backcombing part, my hive wasn’t as high as Carrie’s, but this is something I will try out more often in the future!

after taking these pictures I figured that I had lost one earring :(

The final one is the side braid inspired by Savannah of The Joy of Living. She does all these amazing looks with braids and flowers in her hair and I admire each and every one! My goal was to at least manage that side braid, so I had a small accessory when otherwise keeping my hair open. It also reminds me a bit of the Lauren Conrad Braid. I admit I watched the Hills :)

Which one is your favorite? Do you have any other cool suggestions?

BTW: I used the polaroid maker for those pictures.
